how to hide assignments in google classroom

As of my last update in January 2022, Google Classroom doesn't have a built-in feature specifically for hiding assignments from students. However, there are a few workarounds you can use:

  1. Archive the Assignment: You can archive the assignment, which removes it from the active list of assignments that students see. To do this, go to the Classwork page, click on the three dots next to the assignment you want to hide, and select "Archive." Archived assignments will be moved to the "Archived" section and won't be visible to students unless they specifically navigate to the Archived section.

  2. Schedule Assignments: You can schedule assignments to become visible to students at a later date. This way, you can create assignments in advance and schedule them to become visible when you want students to see them. To schedule an assignment, click on the arrow next to the "Assign" button and choose "Schedule" instead.

  3. Create a Topic for Hidden Assignments: You can create a separate topic for hidden assignments and move the assignments you want to hide into that topic. Then, you can hide the entire topic from students. To do this, create a new topic, move the assignments into that topic, and then click on the three dots next to the topic and select "Hide from students."

  4. Use Draft State: You can create assignments in draft state, which means they are not visible to students until you manually assign them. This way, you can work on assignments without students seeing them until you're ready to release them. To create an assignment in draft state, simply save it without assigning it to any classes.

Keep in mind that the availability of these features may depend on your school's Google Workspace for Education settings and permissions granted by your administrator. It's also a good idea to communicate with your students if you choose to hide assignments to avoid confusion.
